COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you get started.

How much does an appraisal cost?

Fees depend on the property, location, complexity, and intended use. Provide the property details to receive a quote for your assignment.

How long will it take?

Timing depends on availability and the assignment's requirements. Share any deadline when you request a quote so we can confirm whether it can be accommodated.

Is an appraisal the same as an online estimate?

An appraisal is an opinion of value developed for a defined assignment, with analysis of the property, comparable sales, and relevant market conditions. An online estimate may be a starting point, but does not replace that assignment-specific analysis.

Can you value a property as of a past date?

Some estate, trust, and other assignments require a retrospective effective date. Include that date and the intended use when requesting a quote.

Can I order an appraisal for a mortgage myself?

Contact your lender first. Mortgage appraisals generally need to follow the lender's ordering process; a privately ordered report may not be accepted.
